School Sports Newfoundland and Labrador has been a leader in school-based physical activity & sport in the province for over 50 years.

Established in 1969 as the Newfoundland and Labrador High School Athletic Federation, SSNL now operates two separate, but complimentary programs - Varsity and Participation Nation - in 200+ schools throughout the province, impacting15,000 students each year.

SSNL provides programming for students of every age to engage in physical activities.

CORE PROGRAMS

Blend seamlessly with a school’s existing intramural program but with added incentives and rewards for students.

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS

Teach fundamental movement skills to kids in K-6 and keep students active in the after school time slot.

ADVENTURE PROGRAMS
Send students into the great outdoors to learn survival techniques and skills while enjoying nature.

OFFICIAL SPORTS

Provide the opportunity to student-athletes to advance through localized qualifiers to compete at provincials against the province’s top teams.

FOUNDATION SPORTS

The introductory phase of any sport wishing to become part of the Varsity Program’s Official Sports.

JUNIOR VARSITY SPORTS
JV sports are played at a regional level in grades 7, 8, and 9.

PN Core programs promote a number of special events including Friendlies, Festivals of Sport and Jamborees!

DART OUTDOORS
This is an annual Education Week initiative that encourages students province-wide to Dart Outdoors.

ADVENTURE RACES (Members Only)
Adventure races are completed in partnership with Parks Canada and include Trek Terra Nova & Peter's River Raid.

UNIFIED GAMES

SSNL has partnered with Special Olympics NL to bring you unified regional tournaments in 3 different sports.
