The SAFE SPORT EDUCATION course is now LIVE and available through CDLI. NL Schools have drafted a "How To Access" ( https://ssnl.online/NLSchools-How-To-Access-Guide ) guide that will show you how to easily access the course.
With anything new, there will be questions, which I have tried to answer below. If there are any other questions, please reach out and I'll try to help as best I can.
Please note, while this course is mandatory for eligibility in all SSNL sports, we are offering leniency for the remainder of September to allow everyone the time to complete the course.
Where do I find this course?
The Course can be found on CDLI, through Brightspace.
What if I don’t have a CDLI account?
Each student will have the ability to register for a CDLI account to complete the course.
I am trying out for a school team but have not been named to the team, do I still have to complete the course.
No, it is not required unless you have been named to the team. However, the course is still available and it would be a great idea to complete it for your own education.
Can my students do the course as a group?
No, each student must complete the course individually and receive their course completion number. It is encouraged to discuss and review the course as a team when everyone has completed it.
How are the course completions tracked?
Through the course completion number. The Athletic Contract has been amended to list Safe Sport as a requirement and there will be a place where the course number must be included. The Athletic Contract has to be forwarded to the Athletic Director or Administrator at the school.
Does the Course completion number need to be listed on an SSNL registration form.
No, when a school affirms the roster for any tournament, they are indicating that the students listed meet all eligibility requirement. The Safe Sport Course is a requirement.
Is there a cost to the course?
No, the course is free.
I am only playing on a Junior Varsity team, do I still need to take the course?
Yes, the course must be completed by any students in Grade 7-12 playing on a school team.
I am only going to an invitational tournament, not an SSNL tournament, do I still have to do the course?
Yes, if you are on a school team, representing your school, the course must be completed.
How long will it take to complete the course?
The course should take between 60-80 minutes.
