Competitive Hobby Horsing

Competitive Hobby Horsing is an emerging sport where athletes perform horse-riding movements using a hobby horse. Blending elements of gymnastics and equestrian sport, it is physically demanding—requiring speed, endurance, coordination, and control.

Paired with Newfoundland & Labrador’s rich history of hobby horse making—rooted in the long-standing tradition of Mummering—this unique activity finds a natural home as SSNL’s newest foundation sport.

Recognizing that equipment may not be readily available to all schools, SSNL will provide all necessary course equipment, along with installation guidelines. Teams will be responsible for supplying their own hobby horses.

Funding will also be made available to support participating schools.
