School Sports Newfoundland & Labrador has been partnered with The School Milk Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Dairy Farmers of Newfoundland & Labrador for over 7 years and in 2016-17 we have renewed our commitment to providing nutritious milk at SSNL events. Making healthy choices and being active are two key components to good health and with School Milk Foundation of NL as a partner we feel that our student athletes are learning good health conscious habits that will serve them for years to come.
The School Milk Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador is a non-profit organization, established in 1991 with a mandate to “increase the consumption of milk amongst school aged children throughout Newfoundland and Labrador” and is supplied by the Dairy Farmers of Newfoundland & Labrador with nutritious and delicious milk products. Their School Milk Program currently operates in over 240 schools in the province.
For the 2016-17 school year, School Milk Foundation of NL and Dairy Farmers of NL are partnering with SSNL to provide $30,000 of program support and milk products at all SSNL Varisty tournaments and various Participation Nation program events including PN Jamborees and PN Unplugged events. This contribution plays a significant role in helping SSNL meets one of it’s mandates to create healthy lifestyle choices in our province’s students. School Milk NL. also provides SSNL with a number of promotional materials for SSNL events.
